Religion

Christian

Greetings guys! :D For the last religion that I will talks about is Christianity. Christianity in modern usage can be define as a wide range of belief and practices is found across the world among those who call themselves Christian. Besides, Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christian is actually derives from the Koine Greek word Christos which means that a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach. Besides, the Greek word Christianos meaning “follower of Christ” comes from Christos meaning anointed one which with an adjectival ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to or even belonging to as a slave of ownership. The first recorded use of the term is in the New Testament.

Black Cat

Greetings guys! :D for the next superstitious in Christian religion is about a black cat. Black cat belief is differs from other cultures to another. Every culture had their own points of views in describing black cat is symbolize on what but the most popular belief of superstitious on black cat is it brings misfortune. In western country especially the Christian follower belief that lack cat brings unlucky and they looked at black cat symbolize of evil omens. It is also had been specifically being suspected as one of the animals that has a connection and familiar with witches. Besides, most of the Europe considers the black cat is a symbol of bad luck especially when a black cat is crossed a path with a person which it is believed that to be an omen misfortune and also can brings death to the person. As for me, the Malay people which is Islam also had some superstitious belief regarding black cat which it had been planted in the people head when there is a death occurs at a village don’t let a black cat crossed the dead body because if the cat doing so, it will make the dead body alive again or stand up but in the form of ghost. Interesting right?

Friday the 13

Greetings guys! :D. For this Christian superstitious section I will start the belief of the people on the Friday 13th.  The number 13 is considered as a bad luck number to some people who believe with this kind of superstitious in some country. For them 13 will bring bad things to their life and also will harm their life in term of everything. Besides, some hotels and some buildings at some country are avoiding using number 13 as their 13 floor it is because they believe that the buildings or the hotels will not last longer which there will e a tragedy at the place which give an impact to them in the future. Why people who hold with Christianity believe that Friday 13th is not a good date and day? Sometimes it trigger me to know about it because as for my opinion everything that happens had its own reason and the people believe that it should be like that, and that is the point why they're actually try to show towards people. So now I get the answer why are they avoiding using number 13th and why some of them dislike Friday the 13th. It is because the Christian people believe that at Jesus Christ last supper, there were thirteen people around the table which it counting Christ ant the twelve apostles. Some believe that it was unlucky because one of those thirteen is Judas Iscariot, the one who is the betrayer of Jesus Christ. Besides, one major reason that support Friday the 13th is on Friday 13th October 1307, King Philip IV of France ordered the arrest of the Knights Templar and most of them were tortured and killed.

Hanging lemon and 7 green chilies in shops and business places

Greetings guys! :D now I will tell you about the next superstitious in Hindu belief which is hanging lemon and 7 green chilies in shops and business places. The story goes like this, Alakshmi a god of misfortune brings bad luck tot the shop owners or business and in order to not allow her to entering the business or shop place they hang these 7 chilies and a lemon. It is because Alakshmi like sour, pungent and hot things. Therefore, at the door shop, Alakshmi will only come up at the door and will eat her favorite foods and satisfy her hunger and leave the shop without entering it. The people had believed that Alakshmi had loses her urge to enter the shops after consuming the chilies and lemon. She will turn around without casting her vicious eyes. Aside from it there is a logical explanation behind this superstitious belief. The cotton thread that had been used to pierce the chilies and lemon absorbs the acid from the fruit while it still fresh and it will cause a good smell which this smell will keeps away all the pests and insects away from the shop. It makes sense somehow right?

Superstitious (Hindu)

Dont sweep house after sunset

Greetings guys! :D Now let’s see on what is the superstitious that lay in the head of the people that take Hindu as their religion which is don’t sweep your house after the sunset. It is a common superstitious belief that had been invaded people in India which mostly are Hinduism. It had been said that if you sweep your house after sunset Lakshmi will walk out of the house and hence inviting poverty. It just like they are chasing out Lakshmi from their house and inviting the poverty inside their house which it will affects their future. Despite all of those things, there is a reasonable explanation on that. It is because back then to the days that without electricity, light of lamp was not enough to spot any small gold ornaments while sweeping them away and hence the dust is high same goes to sweeps away all the ornaments. Besides, it was not advised to sweep after dark. As a conclusion, for me, all the things that had been done by our late grandfather or grandmother had its own reason that sometimes had its own logical explanation on it.

Religion

Buddha

Greetings everyone! :D for this entry I will be talks about the other Buddha belief on superstitious which is Feng Shui. I know some of you might have heard about Feng Shui right? Feng Shui is a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment. Besides, Feng Shui is closely linked to Daoism. Actually, Feng Shui literally translated to English as “wind-water”.  This is cultural shorthand taken from the passage of the now lost Classic of Burial recorded in Guo Pu’s commentary. So what are the superstitious things about Feng Shui? Actually the things that makes Feng Shui superstitious are, one of it’s because it involved with something that we cannot see. Such as when the people who believe in Feng Shui want to buy a house they will see about the Feng Shui first at the place and the house, whether it will give a misfortune to them or brings a good and lots o lucks for them in future. Besides, some of people tells that Feng Shui is related to spirits and its some kind of related to a fortune teller which a person that can predict the other people future.

Basically, this festival is based on the superstitious that tells about on that day of the festival there will be a lot of spirits lingering around the world searching for something that can satisfy their desire. Besides, on that day, there are some taboos or limitation that needs to be followed by the people who believe in this festival and if they didn’t follow the limitations or the taboos it will give a misfortune towards them and will make the ad things to stuck at them forever.

Religion

The Jews or also known as the Jewish people are an ethnoreligious group originating from Israelites, or Hebrews of the Ancient Near East. Besides, Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation while its observance varies from strict observance to complete non-observance. Furthermore, Jewish is ethno genesis involves a complex coalescence of tribal, religious, ethnic, cultural and territorial factors reaching back variously at least to the dawn of the 1st millennium BCE. Bughuul

Greetings guy! :D. Now let’s move to the next superstitious belief that had among the Jews society. Bughuul or also known as Mr. Boogie is actually a ghost that devours children. In popular culture Bughuul is known as the eater of children which people before use Bughuul to make the children be afraid and don’t be rude to the elder. Besides, the power of skills that Bughuul possessed is exerting influences towards the children and it had the ability to travel between worlds which it is easier to find and manipulate the children. Bughuul goals is to endlessly consume the souls of human children which it can manipulate the children to follow its command. Bughuul also had been an inspired to the 2012 horror and thriller film; Sinister. In this movie the director depicts Bughuul as the sinister powers that force the children to kills their parents and follow its command. Every children that had finished their works will be brought to the others world by the Bughuul and the children will never be seen again. There’s people also said that actually Bughuul is a Babylonian god of darkness which it is the collector of the child souls and also the child abductor. For me Bughuul is one of the interesting villains that had been successfully adapted to a film and a successfully superstitious figure that interestingly had its own standard that had been commercialize.

Superstitious (Jews)

Dibbuk Box

Greetings everyone! :D For the Jews superstitious, I will start with a horrifying and evil wine box which had been called by the Jews people as Dibbuk box. Jews people believe that this kind of box has its own power and the spirit that haunts it has a strong ability and terrifying. Dibbuk box or also known as ‘kufsat dibbuk’ among Jewish is a wine cabinet box which is had been said that to be haunted by a Dybbuk. A Dybbuk is a restless and usually is malicious spirit that had been believed that to be able to possess and haunt the living. The box gained its notoriety when it was been auctioned at e-bay along with the horror story by Kevin Mannis that later it had been the inspiration of the 2012 Film The Possession. Basically the box that had been auction at the e-bay had its own story and belief on it which the box that he buys is actually comes from the survivors of the Holocaust in German-occupied Poland named Havela. Besides, the Jews believe that the Dybbuk is actually a children soul-eater and the people who had survive from be eaten by the Dybbuk had to give their belongings to the spirits by putting their things in the box. It is supported by the story by Kevin Mannis which he found a blonde hair bound with cord, a lock of black/brown hair also bound in cord in the box and also with two pennies in it alongside with others things. Dybbuk box is actually an interesting superstitious belief of the Jewish people that can be discuss about. For me despite all the superstitious and mysterious things that involved with the Dybbuk box, the movie that had been made based on this story is a movie that had its own uniqueness and its own storyline that will attract you to watch it and trigger your mind on what will happens next. The editing and visualize of the movie were also the best. It worth your time by watching the movie :D

Superstitious (Islam)

"Pocong"

For the next entry in superstitious I will be talked about Pocong or as known as 'Hantu Bungkus." This ghost or supernatural thing had been called as pocong because the way it’s showed itself. Besides, it had been said, it is basically a ghost of the soul of the dead person that trapped in its own shroud. Known as “kain kafan” among the Muslim, the shroud can be describes as length of the cloth used in Muslim burials to wrap the body of the dead person.  According to the traditional belief, the soul of the dead person will stay at the earth around 40 days after the death and it is because of the ties under the feet, the ghost can’t walk. This causes the ghost to hop. The scariest part of this ghost is when it’s hopping from one place to another place. It is because you don’t know where it will be when he hops on, whether besides you or in front of you. Many cases of hysteria that had happen in school especially had been said that they see the appearances of this ghost. The victims had said before the hysteria they believe that they had saw a wrapped body in shroud (pocong) comes to them with pale and sad face and because of the terrific situation they feel so afraid and consequently unconscious and lead to the situation. Actually this situation only happen to the Muslim because the other religions usually used buried the dead body with burnt it or just lay the corpse in the box that had been called as keranda and they didn’t wrap the body. So this kind of superstitious becomes a part of Muslim people especially Malay belief. So, are you one of the believers?

Superstitious (Islam)

Ulek Mayang

Greetings guys! Have you seen the video of ulek mayang that I post before? It’s quite interesting right? Back to the topic, for the superstitious part I will start with superstitious that had been in the mind of Malay peoples who are mostly are Muslim. Malay people are famous with a lot of superstitious things even in this modern era. The most popular superstitious among the Malays people is Ulek Mayang which it is actually a traditional song that came along with dances that will be performed by a group of women. Originally this song is come from Terengganu, Malaysia. Ulek Mayang is also a type of worship-dance that will be accompanied by a song that will be conducted with a Malay orchestra. For me this song has its own power that will make you feel like you’re at somewhere else when listening to it. Basically there is too many kind of version that talks about Ulek Mayang. According to one of the version, the story based on one of the late-ritual that had been done by the shaman to a fisherman that in unconscious situation, that people had believe the fisherman had been hypnotize by one of the sea-princess that fall in love with him. The trial of the shaman to bring back the fisherman had made the princess called her sisters to come help her fight against the shaman. The fighting between the shaman and the entire six princesses takes a lot of times and days till the eldest sister among the others which the seventh sister comes. Then the eldest sister had said to both of the side that is in fighting with "Ku tahu asal-usulmu, Yang laut balik ke laut, yang darat balik ke darat". Once the fighting come to end, the shaman and the others fisherman feel indebted to the eldest princess kindness and they served colourful rice as a worship to the sea spirit and this ritual had been used till Islam came to this land. The song itself is very unique and has its own identity, and most of the Malaysian people think that this song has its own ghost. Besides, lots of new contemporary touch to this music had been made. Such as the group of thrash metal in Malaysia, Cromok had cover this song same as the Malaysia rock diva, Ella had cover the song too. As a conclusion this superstitious believe still had been stuck in the Malaysian people nowadays and maybe it will be forever because it had been planted in the mind of the people since there were young and it’s just like folk stories that had been passed by generation to generation. What do you think?

An Introduction

Greetings guys! First of all for this entry, I will tell you about the name of this blog which is Paradox Sanguinarium. Paradox can be define as a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true while Sanguinarium is an adjective words comes from the Latin word which is sanguinarius. Sanguinarius can be describe as two meanings of bloody which of or pertaining blood and bloody as covered with blood. That is the definitions for the blog title and the word sanguinarium is actually a name from one of the X files Drama series episode in season 4, which I'm one of the series big fans! :D. Back to the topic, in this blog it will be discuss and talk more about believe that the society has in term of religion and superstitious. People always ask me why did I take religion and superstitious as the main point in believe? It is because every person or human being in this world has their own believe in a religion and in superstitious things. As we know that every society in this world that consist of their own social group has their own religion and superstitious believing depending on what situation and condition they are in that shape the way of the society ways of thinking and effects their culture. To conclude, everyone is a believer, a believer in something that sometimes they actually didn’t know on what they are believed in. Maybe a believe comes naturally or comes from the ancestor or comes from their own understanding. Believe is actually something subjective. It is all depending on how you believe and how you apply your believe.
